Sweet Beast

Sweet Beast
The function of time
to break down your flesh, yes, to belay us.
The structure of youth
a platform upon which you survey us.
The blessing of life
to be devoured by a sweet beast.
On the graph of the heart
a cross is only intersecting lines.
If you want to light the way
leave the moon and the stars up in the sky.
A definite break
of limb of love of word of tooth.
Who comes to the feast?
The hungriest mouth always the sweet beast.
On the graph of the heart
a cross is only intersecting lines.
If you want to light the way
leave the moon and the stars up in the sky.
Sure you ache,
but your taste ain't enough.

Repairs Made

Repairs Made
I keep falling down,
in the breeze my thoughts just come unwound.
When you’re pulling away I’m on my knees in the dark feeling my way.
With you in my bed all my broken words can stay unsaid.
Caught in a wheel.
Pressed inside.
Caught in a wheel and still alive.
You can make repairs to the perfect if you want to,
and with great care you can bring it to ruins.
REPEAT
The cracks in the floor,
the break that’s in store for every moment hiding.
The lines on my face, the holes un-replaced;
no map for the one we climbed in.
Caught in a wheel and pressed inside.
I’m living well from underneath.
I’ll take it all and make them see.

Joy/Skin

Joy/Skin
Lopsided creations
conjoined and blue
then kept in vases
kept out of view.
Cackling in the treetops
pecking out a warning
so stunning drums play.
Just like you wanted
you found the joy/skin,
and then you cut it up.
Just like you wanted
you found the joy/skin.
But you love that tearing sound.
That's my mistake,
my chain reaction.
No one is coming
even if you're the last one.
I don't want to hear it
even from my own mouth.
So, stunning drums play.
Just like you wanted
you found the joy/skin,
and then you cut it up.
Just like you wanted
you found the joy/skin.
But you love that tearing sound.
Don't you worry your pretty little head.
A bigger pain is coming.
Don't get lost in that sweet-smelling good.
A bigger pain is coming.

Anchor

Anchor
I'm trying
to fight weight, to make waves,
to calm nerves in strain,
to loosen my grip on this iron thing.
If you want the sharp stakes of making love,
the sharks circling,
the fall fit for an iron thing...
Go find whatever you want
warm it in your hands
then place in in a box and cover it in sand
Untying
a knot tied subconsciously;
a song wrought in shame,
struck hard to make iron sing.
If you want the sharp stakes of making love,
the sharks circling,
the fall fit for an iron thing...
Go find whatever you want
warm it in your hands
then place in in a box and cover it in sand
Now you can see my hands are frozen from the cold.
The sky has opened up and I'm thinking of letting you go.

The Shift

The Shift
Get small in your education
and get small in your work of art.
Get erased if you have the patience.
This little piggy has strayed too far.
Get small in your emancipation
and get small when your getting caught.
It’s enough just to leave the station.
This little piggy stayed home too long.
It’s good pain when you’re running hard;
The Shift, The Shift.
Your last day isn’t very far;
New Heart, New Heart.
Get small in your education
and get small in your work of art.
Get erased if you have the patience.
This little piggy has strayed too far.
Get small in your emancipation
and get small when your getting caught.
It’s enough just to leave the station.
This little piggy stayed home too long.
It’s good pain when you’re running hard;
The Shift, The Shift.
Your last day isn’t very far;
New Heart, New Heart.
When all is lost but inspiration, under tension, under fear, all it costs is inspiration, under tension.

Transparency

Transparency
Things have never been so wrong
and things have never been so right.
If you’re still afraid of the answer,
perhaps just don’t ask the question.
“You’re not who you used to be”
and “I’m not who you think I am”.
Another intrusive thought;
to poison only takes a drop.
That’s transparency.
Now I can see who you are.
If you really want the truth,
it might be hidden in the struggle.
We came down from a mountain
and waiting for us
was a boat for two on the river.
Then we sailed out to the ocean
and waiting for us
only the breaking waves.
Things have never been so wrong
and things have never been so right.
If you’re still afraid of the answer,
perhaps just don’t ask the question.
That’s transparency.
Now I can see who you are.
If you really want the truth,
it might be hidden in the struggle.
We came down from a mountain
and waiting for us
was a boat for two on the river.
Then we sailed out to the ocean
and waiting for us
only the breaking waves.
You can’t escape yourself
and in time a lie is only a fading word
but you can waste your time
and every false word will strip you of it.
It’s true
every moment waits for what you’ve got.
With two
every moment waits for what’s inside.

Open Gate

Open Gate
Through the open gate every last one walked.
Is it fleece or fame that stops the clock?
So we made a circle keeping an eye on the fox.
When everybody starts running the weak get lost.
(Out in the open space, gently I dropped my name)
The herd made their great escape
and the home that they left behind
just dried up and blew away.
No one saw the warning signs
Through the open gate every last one walked.
I left everything I owned in a neat little pile.
When the ground was shaking we were sure we’d won.
Never a fleeting thought on what we’d done.
(Right then my heart got soft, but still it broke apart)
The herd made their great escape
and the home that they left behind
just dried up and blew away.
No one saw the warning signs

Our Last Conversation

Our Last Conversation
Looking for a way out from inside
and daring you to pull me through.
But your hands are swollen and somewhere
and you're not waiting up for me.
But you remember the kind of place
you would run to over burning ground.
It lives within your own eclipse
where moon and mankind won't find me.
We raise hot in the day sun
(This the last conversation)
to pay until the day's done
(This the last conversation)
I'll walk into the space dividing us,
(This the last conversation)
I won't take it to my grave.
The time that she told you to stay
you were in the shadows too.
But you were chosen from the many who froze
when the dream came true.
But you remember the kind of place
you would run to over burning ground.
It lives within your own eclipse
where moon and mankind won't find me.
We raise hot in the day sun
(This the last conversation)
to pay until the day's done
(This the last conversation)
I'll walk into the space dividing us,
(This the last conversation)
I won't take it to my grave.
So calm in what is wrong
(in the face of what is right.)
These faces crying wolf
still afraid to clean the kill
(but holding the knife)
witness the slow decay.
